About FeelGreen Project:
Feel Green is an Erasmus+ project addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the gap between environmental awareness and actual sustainable behavior among young people. According to the European Commission, buildings account for around 40% of total energy consumption in the EU, while energy use remains a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, research shows that although young people demonstrate high levels of concern about climate change, many lack the practical knowledge and everyday tools needed to adopt energy-efficient habits. Feel Green focuses on empowering young people, youth workers and educators to move from awareness to action by promoting energy efficiency, sustainability, and responsible energy use. At the same time, the project strengthens the role of youth workers, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, methodologies, and educational tools to effectively guide and support young people in this transition. Through non-formal education, digital innovation, and transnational cooperation, Feel Green contributes to building a generation that is not only aware of environmental challenges but also capable of actively shaping a more sustainable future.
Why Feel Green Matters ?
Climate change and energy consumption are among the most critical challenges facing Europe today. According to the European Commission, buildings are responsible for approximately 40% of total energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU (European Commission, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive). At the same time, the European Environment Agency highlights that improving energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways to reduce emissions, increase energy security, and support the transition to a sustainable economy (European Environment Agency, 2023). Despite growing awareness, a significant gap remains between knowledge and action, particularly among young people. While youth across Europe express strong concern about environmental issues, studies indicate that this concern does not always translate into everyday sustainable behaviors (European Commission, Youth and Climate Action reports). Feel Green addresses this gap by focusing on education, skill development, and practical tools that enable young people to actively engage in energy-efficient practices. By strengthening the capacity of youth workers and promoting accessible learning approaches, the project contributes to empowering a generation capable of making informed and sustainable energy choices. In this context, Feel Green supports the broader European Green Deal objectives, contributing to a climate-neutral Europe by promoting behavioral change, knowledge sharing, and active participation in sustainability efforts.
